Flowing Floor Designs
Dimension Flooring by Alistair Bramley uses a radically different design concept to achieve the final effect of what looks like contour lines on laminate flooring. The designer did not create the design himself in the traditional sense but he conceived the idea of letting the traffic flow of a particular space dictate the placement of the lines. Video footage of how people use living spaces were first taken and then processed to obtain the abstract pattern which can then be printed onto the flooring material.
Dimension is possible because of the digital printing processes available today for flooring manufacture. This allows designers like Bramley complete flexibility in design. He is able to explore designing not just for particular clients but how they use their living space. It becomes a much more personal environment for them. This is custom design at a totally different level.
